Be The Hero Campaign is aimed at increasing awareness of the need to value water and use it wisely. South Africa is a water stressed country and the water resources are under tremendous pressure because of the growing population in Gauteng.
The campaign was targeted at students in primary schools in remote areas (known as farm schools) as well as the overall communities, where there is already a shortage of water supply. These schools were based in the City of Tshwane, Ekurhuleni and the City of Johannesburg. Nine activations were conducted in Tembisa, Nigel, Springs, Pimville, Orlando East, Bapsfontein, Refilwe and Soshanguve.
